Women and Girls Mobility Support Project

Women and girls with disabilities living in North Kivu face some of the greatest barriers to safety, mobility, and access to essential services. In Masisi, Nyiragongo, Walikale, Rutshuru, Lubero, and Goma, armed conflict, displacement, and recurring emergencies have made everyday life even more difficult for people who already face exclusion. For many women and girls with disabilities, reaching a health facility, school, protection service, or humanitarian assistance can be a major challenge. Limited transportation, insecurity, discrimination, and social isolation can leave them among the people least able to access support when they need it most.

The Women and Girls Mobility Support Project was created to respond to these challenges by improving mobility assistance and helping women and girls with disabilities access healthcare, education, protection, psychosocial support, and humanitarian services. At this stage, the project is in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase. We have begun identifying qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the planned activities. We are committed to making sure that implementation is organized carefully and responds to the real needs of the communities we intend to serve. No major project activities are being presented as completed yet; our immediate priority is to secure the resources needed to begin implementation safely and effectively.

Our fundraising target is $10,000, and we have so far received $20 toward this goal. Although this is only the beginning, every contribution represents an important sign of solidarity with women and girls with disabilities in North Kivu. Through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we are connecting this locally led initiative with donors who want to support practical, community-based solutions. The funds raised will help us move from preparation to implementation and provide meaningful support to people who are too often left behind during conflict and emergencies.
