Last June, we rejoiced because we had one new medical graduate among our beneficiaries. MQ was an outstanding medical student in terms of leadership and academics. She is taking her straight clinical internship this year, afterwhich, she will be eligible to take the Physician's Licensure Examination!
UB, our youngest beneficiary has just entered high school (Grade 7) in a new school. Philippine Leprosy Mission provided funds for her school uniform and shoes, school bag, and supplies. Her monthly stipend from PLM has also doubled upon the request of her mother who is still recuperating in a special hospital ward for leprosy patients.
We have also continued supporting a college student, MC, who is taking BS Tourism Management. Just a few more years to go and she will soon be able to start job hunting. Her father, a former leprosy patient, has been going through some hard times recently. He also needs financial assistance.
A.C. is now on her third year in the Global Life University. She has been posting daily devotions and reflections in the Hansen's Club group chat to help strengthen the spirituality of the members.
Last June, I was in the Southern Philippines on outreach skin missions and encountered a young man with leprosy and complications (lepra reactions). He had to stop schooling and had become despondent. He is still interested to continue schooling but his mother can not support his schooling. Perhaps he can be the next educational beneficiary of PLM:)
With your continued contributions, PLM will be able to transform more lives among our leprosy patients!
