MG is a single parent with an amputated leg who recently needed a new leg prosthesis. She also has claw hands and eyelids that can not shut fully--all due to her severe leprosy in the past. In 2023, we provided support for the snacks and travel expenses of the gradeschool daughter of MG. This month, we have provided funds for her P.E. uniform and will resume a monthly stipend for snacks and travel expenses. She is maintaining good grades but has to cope with bullying at times by schoolmates who know that her mother had Hansen's disease.
Our other beneficiary, a medical student, garnered 3rd honors, according to her mother who is a former Hansen's patient. She was also awarded the Best in Medical Ethics. We are very proud of our educational assistance beneficiaries!
With your continued support, Philippine Leprosy Mission will be able to empower more Persons Affected by Leprosy through educational assistance!
