Updates
Anchor Group
We have been meeting with our Anchor cohort since October. Our girls are adjusting to the new group format and are grateful that we added “snack time” and additional incentives to the program. We were also fortunate to be able to celebrate the holiday season with a group party and we had gifts for each of the girls. The group members are learning to focus on using adaptive versus maladaptive coping skills, about the importance of self-care, and continue to build their support systems.
Individual Sessions
We are happy to report that Fair Haven Center for Women has hired a new staff member who will be working with Project Anchor. As a result of the employment of our newest advocate, we will be able to offer more individualized services. Furthermore, having another team member will also allow the opportunity to facilitate an additional Anchor group if necessary.
Navigate Trainings
Fair Haven continues to successfully present Navigate trainings at our local community high schools. We have recently added an additional piece to this program, which is focused on parent/caregiver education about rape culture and prevention. We have also been approached about doing our trainings in local middle and junior high schools and foresee the likelihood that we could be visiting these schools sometime in the near future.
Needs
Fair Haven would still benefit from more funding to be able to purchase additional space to be able to run our programs and groups more effectively. A lack of transportation can also tend to be a hindrance to program enrollment and participation.
As always, we want to thank you, on behalf of the staff and participants of Project Anchor, for your generous support of our program and our mission to help the hurting youth in our community.
