Updates

We held our last cohort celebration in September for our Anchor program for the 2015 season. Since, this particular cohort consisted primarily of recent sexual assault victims; we were focusing on helping these courageous young women assimilate back into their daily life routines.

Working Together to Make a Difference

According to a report issued by the Centers of Disease Control in 2010, Indiana was rated 2nd in the nation between 9th-12th graders who reported forced sexual intercourse. As a response to this alarming statistic, the staff of the Anchor program is partnering together with our Rape Response program:Beacon of Hope.

Beacon of Hope is a program designed to walk with victims of sexual assault. A trained advocate supports victims at the hospital for an exam or at any police interviews they need to do. Additionally, the program offers supportive counseling at Fair Haven Center for Women for further recovery.

In 2016 our collaborated team will provide a community training presentation geared toward adolescents. The training (referred to as Navigate) will focus on educating teens about healthy relationships, sexual abuse, sexual assault, how to prevent becoming a victim, and empowering survivors. It is our hope at Fair Haven that this training will not only educate the youth in our community about the realities and prevalence of sexual assault, but might also encourage survivors to courageously seek out help as well.

As always we want to thank you, on behalf of the staff and participants of Project Anchor, for your generous support of our program and our mission to help the hurting youth in our community.
