Dear Supporters of Project Anchor,
Fair Haven Center for Women would like to thank you for your continued support of this project. Your contributions have helped impact the lives of adolescent victims of violence for their lifetime.
According to our pre and post test, we know our program is working! Participants of Project Anchor have been empowered with tools that will help them make better overall life choices, increase self value and improve cognitive thinking. Additionally, their participation has allowed them the space and place to share their story, find their voice and work through the pain that can hold a victim of trauma hostage for a lifetime if not validated and processed.
Each cohort of Project Anchor ends in a "Celebration." It's called a celebration instead of a graduation because recovery isn't something we "graduate" from. This is a life-long process of health and wellness of mind, body and spirit! For our Celebration, we offered an essay contest. We asked the participants to write an essay answering the quesiton: How has Project Anchor impacted/changed my life? A top essay writer would receive a $250.00 scholarship to atthend a higher learning establishment of their choices. The essays were just AMAZING!
Here are just a few excerpts:
"Fair Haven Center for Women was a trustworthy place for me to discuss my biggest fears, my feelings and build trust with myself and others. I am really thankful to have had this opportunity to be in the Anchor Program."
"The fact that Project Anchor was so hands on really helped me open up more. I let out my anger, sadness, hurt and everything else I was feeling in a safe way. While I was there, not only did I learn a safe way to let out my emotions but I also learned how to let myself feel."
It was so difficult to select one winner! So, we chose two! Congratulations to them and we wish all of our program participants continued sucess as they move forward in their goals.
Fair Haven Center for Women has Open Enrollment for the Fall 2014 Session of Project Anchor. We use the all funds received from Global Giving to support this project. We purchase art supplies, paints, masks and shoes that are decorated by participants. We purchase a scrap books for each participants which requires paper, stickers, glue, tape, photo paper and ink as we photograph all art projects so they can documnent their pieces in their scrapbook.
Again, thank you for your continue support! Your contribuations are making a difference and changing lives.
