By Maya Rosales | Youth Services Coordinator
In the last few months, we have gone through A LOT of changes! We have officially begun remodeling our building and furnishing some new spaces. In my last report, I wrote that we were looking for some help filling up our new youth services room and the community showed up for us. We have fresh paint on the walls as well as “teen-friendly” furniture! It has been so exciting to see how far we have come in such a short amount of time.
Since January 1st, 2024, we have served 82 clients between the ages of 12-18, equaling just about 430 direct service hours. This room has been a great addition to our organization because it is specially tailored to this population of survivors. We have had several adolescent clients use this room for individual advocacy sessions and teen support group. Our teens were told that we were making a room specifically for them. They were all very excited to have a space of their own. The addition of the room solidifies that teen survivors of sexual violence are coming to get the help that they need to the point where they needed their own room! It means a lot to them that we were able to develop this room with them in mind.
We would love to continue furnishing our new youth services room. The community has done a wonderful job by donating pillows, wall décor, and even a bean bag chair. We want to make sure that our clients feel safe and secure when they walk through our doors. To ensure that, we need all the help that we can get. Check out the link to our Amazon Wishlist to donate to this new space. Every item was carefully chosen to create the best space possible for teen survivors. Your gratitude is tremendously appreciated, and we are grateful for any support.
Bye for now!
