We are busy at work preparing for Project Anchor. Just today, we submitted a grant proposal for funds to further support our project. It is our goal to provide these needed services to these young women at no charge.
We are securing a new space for the project. We are growing and we need more room! Furniture and other supplies will be purchased soon.
As we are working hard to prepare for this project, we have great excitement to help these young women and excited about the long-term impact Project Anchor will have on their lives.
Through Project Anchor, young victims of violence and trauma will be less likely to pass on the legacy of child abuse and neglect to their own children, stopping the generational cycle of abuse.
Fair Haven Center for Women believes that healing from the pain, shame and long-term effects of sexual/physical abuse or childhood trauma can occur by working a recovery program. Participants will be equipped with tools to overcome the shame and pain of sexual/physical violence and childhood trauma which will lessen the likelihood of depression & suicide. With healthy coping tools, participants will have a less likelihood of participating in drug and alcohol abuse. With self care training, participants can work through traumatic triggers from PTSD.
Another piece we have added to our program; Essay Contest:
Fair Haven Center for Women believes in empowering individuals to make decisions that will bring about life –long change. Participants of Project Anchor will be given the opportunity to compete in an essay contest (500 words answering the question “How did Participating in Project Anchor change my life?) The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend the University, College or Trade School of their choice. Essay winner will be announced at the Celebration Ceremony.
We continue to need your support to make our project a success. Together we can make a difference.
