Updates
The summer cohort had the chance to develop a self-care plan which entailed how they would incorporate their newly developed coping skills and positive affirmations into their recovery. The group wrapped up in the beginning of September with a celebration pizza party including treats and a special memento to remind them of their time with Fair Haven. The new fall cohort began mid-September. Several new members have joined this group and we’re happy to report that if the group continues to grow at this rate, we are considering creating a second group!!!
Individual clients of Fair Haven continue to meet regularly with advocates and some of these clients have transitioned from individual sessions into the Anchor support group now.
Needs
Fair Haven would greatly benefit from receiving more funding to purchase additional working space to effectively run our programs.
Regular donations enable us to refill our incentive basket which has a variety of candy, lotions, make up, hair accessories, and other small trinkets. Funds are also used to provide snacks for several teen girls who really enjoy eating them and for bottled water to quench their thirst.
We would really like to buy more games and activities. Each week our thrifty and creative Anchor facilitator, Natalie, lovingly researches for ideas. She hand-crafts and develops the projects and activities that are utilized in all individual and group sessions, in order to keep our young people engaged in the recovery process.
A lack of transportation is still a hindrance to program enrollment and participation.
As always, we want to thank you, on behalf of the staff and participants of Project Anchor, for your generous support of our program and our mission to help the hurting youth in our community throughout the year.
