Updates
Group
Our open support group is still running. The girls have been able to build rapport with our new facilitators and with each other. Each week they are becoming more courageous and are beginning to trust the process.
We have done some rearranging and added some cozy furniture and fresh paint to the group room. It is apparent that the girls like the new set up and feel more welcome when they arrive for services. Fair Haven was also gifted some new clothing for our clients and our young ladies really enjoyed going “shopping”.
School Presentations
Fair Haven continues to present the Think First Stay Safe: Teen Lures education and prevention program in middle and high schools. In fact, the desire for the program is so strong that we are receiving calls to set up presentation schedules for the 2019-2020 school year. We are thankful that our community schools have embraced this program for their schools. However, we are currently operating under capacity. Therefore, we have created a separate project page on the global giving website for anyone who wishes to directly support this program. You can find out more information about this program by clicking on the link below.
Success
The enthusiasm of our new staff has been such an inspiration for Fair Haven. We are eager to explore some of their creative ideas for program implementation and community engagement. We appreciate finding such thoughtful people who have embraced the mission of Fair Haven and who are not afraid to walk alongside these special young people.
Needs
Fair Haven would greatly benefit from receiving more funding to purchase additional working space to effectively run our programs.
We are interested in purchasing more curriculum, games, activities, snacks, and bottled water.
We also utilize weekly incentives with our group participants and are considering purchasing small monetary gift cards for local fast food restaurants and coffee shops.
A lack of transportation continues to be a hindrance to program enrollment and participation.
As always, we want to thank you, on behalf of the staff and participants of Project Anchor, for your generous support of our program and our mission to help the hurting youth in our community throughout the year.
