Updates
Group
We began our next cohort and are going on our 3rd week. The girls are excited to come to group. In fact they even arrive early. Their stories of abuse and trauma are heartbreaking, but being together and sharing and knowing they are not alone has made such a difference in such a short time. The last couple of weeks they have been working on a picture collage depicting their feelings and emotions. Many times abused victims will have so many bottled up, ambivalent feelings that it’s hard to put into words. We try to use art expression every couple of weeks to help them safely and freely share their feelings.
Individual Sessions
We continue to receive referrals for individual services. We have been providing services to so many individuals that we have reached our target in less than a year's time! We are so grateful to collaborate with other oganizations who have spread the word about the availability of our adolescent program.
School Presentations
Our staff members have had the opportunity to go into several more schools to present the Teen Lures: Think First & Stay Safe prevention program. Since December, they have presented at two more middle schools and high schools, and have a large number of school presentations lined up before the school year is over.
Needs
Fair Haven is growing at a rapid rate. We would greatly benefit from receiving more funding to purchase additional working space to be able to run our programs more effectively.
We are interested in purchasing more curriculum, games, and activities.
We are still in need of another advocate to assist with group facilitation and individual advocacy.
A lack of transportation also continues to be a hindrance to program enrollment and participation.
