The days are hot and the nights are cool. The children are back at school after their midterm break and happy to be celebrating Halloween today.

Tangmo, one of our nursing students, has headed back to Bangkok to finish her second year. She spent her summer term at Warm Heart, helping Soda with home visits and keeping track of the health of our staff and children. It’s good for the younger children to hear about her studies and life in the big city, especially from someone so happy to encourage them.

Soda continues to make her rounds and drive people to their doctors’ appointments. Whenever possible, she arranges for local village health volunteers and the sub-district physical therapist to join her visits. Another pair of hands makes a difference, and the elders, children, and adults with disabilities welcome the company and attention.

Recently, the Chiang Mai International Rotary Club (CMIRC) asked Soda to help arrange a meeting in Mae Wan Noi and join the visit. Following emergency response training earlier this year, the village asked Rotary to consider a project to bring water from higher in the mountains down to the village for irrigation and household use. CMIRC works with international Rotary partners, including clubs in the United States, on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs in remote communities like those Warm Heart serves. This meeting was a chance to discuss the village’s needs.

Thank you for helping Soda reach our isolated neighbors. Your support pays for the fuel and supplies that make these visits possible, bringing practical care, companionship, and help getting to medical appointments.

With gratitude and good wishes for the months ahead,

Dana, Michael, Evelind, and the Warm Heart Family

P.S. GlobalGiving's annual "Giving Tuesday" is December 1. We will also launch our own Matching Funds Campaign running through the end of the year. Stay tuned!
