Dear Change Marker!

Sweet Endings to 2018- Our first Graduation Day
“It is said we must not forget our roots, which is why we thought it is only fitting that our very first graduation ceremony should be held right here at our very first AXF center. When we started AXF in April 2012 there were 18 children and a couple of volunteers along with Beenaa and me. I remember telling someone in our very first year, we will have 10 centers and 1000 kids eventually…back then that number seemed pretty challenging to me. Today with 1900 kids and nearly 500 volunteers, I don’t even know how to calculate our growth rate, my math was always a little iffy.
Our first AXF Graduation Day was one I shall certainly cherish for a lifetime. It was a day where we celebrated all the efforts the AXF Family has put in for all these years. As we felicitated each student our heart swelled with pride and joy, and we saw our students’ eyes shine with glee! Our students made some heartfelt speeches and there was not a dry eye in sight as they poured their hearts out into the microphone. Our guest of honour, Mr. Prahlad Kakar’s witty speech did garner a lot of chuckles and also inspired our students to believe in themselves. Thank you, Mr. Kakar & speaking minds. Sunita Bhuyan, our well-wisher since we can remember, received a roar of claps from our students who were absolutely amazed at her musically jugalbandi with her fantastic team.
Last but not least, I would like to thank each and every teacher, volunteer, well-wisher that is a part of the AXF Family. Without all your support and belief in the AXF cause, nothing would have been possible. I look at us today and I am happy to say that I had grossly underestimated the famous spirit of Mumbai, particularly the gusto that Mumbai’s Mums seem to possess. I am awed by all of you, the enthusiasm with which you have taken on additional responsibility voluntarily in your lives and have become the backbone of AXF.
Thanks to all of you day to day operations run smoothly at the centers, volunteers have a great experience and children get real learning that goes far beyond academics. Bravo ladies, thanks to your contribution, a social experiment has been converted into a movement! Cheers to an amazing Graduation Day and to the many more to follow.”

Bright Start to 2019- Launch of the Youth Engagement Program
Here at Angel Xpress Foundation we work to transform lives of underprivileged children through regular access to educated adults. This does not stop once the kids have completed their schooling. We are proud to launch our 'Youth Engagement Program (YEP)’- a platform for the kids after school to grow and enhance their career and lives. The main focus of YEP is to help the students in making feasible and realistic career choices by giving them an insight to the various opportunities available for them. The same is achieved by providing courses on life skills, digital literacy and spoken English with the help of people skilled in these areas.
The first big step in this direction is the Digital Literacy Program, provided by Vidyalankar School of Information Technology (VSIT). Each of our students from the 11th & 12th grade are mentored in digital literacy by teachers and students from Vidyalankar School of Information Technology (VSIT). They bring their laptops and give practical knowledge to the kids along with explaining theory. At the completion of the program, the students will be awarded a certificate for the same.
Students who had never used a computer before were also made comfortable to use on, and they are very excited to learn more. The volunteers who are all students of VSIT, were patient and very cooperative. They ensured all doubts of the AXF-YEP students were resolved and the students understood, and were confident of the topics covered. We are in the process of planning many such programs and interactions that will give our YEP students clarity in planning their future and pursuing their career choices.
Running for our cause:
The students of AXF along with the volunteers ran the dream run at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on 20th January ‘19. For a majority of our kids it was their very first experience at a marathon and being part of such a huge movement almost. They were fascinated by seeing the number of people that turn up for the event including the honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis. The students were amazed to see the people running the full marathon! A lot of people standing by the side cheering as the runners gather every ounce of stamina to complete the 42km race. The race was followed by some snacks and energy drinks, just what's needed after an early morning workout. Wearing the AXF t-shirts and running with smiles on their face, it was a Sunday morning which will be etched in the memories of the kids and volunteers for a long time.
Fantastic February: Annual Day of Grace
Johnny Depp said, “Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can’t” & we experienced it first hand at the AXF Day Of Grace 2019. Indian Ocean supported our cause with their stellar performance at our Day of Grace, celebrating our contribution to society, touched everyone’s souls. The AXF Family cannot thank them enough for their time & the tunes they played from the heart. Over 800 people were witness to day dedicated to thanking everyone who has been part of the AXF journey.
