Challenge

LGBTQI+ individuals experience higher barriers to accessing mental health care and safe, community spaces that support individuals through homelessness, multiple discrimination, crises and trauma.

Solution

The Pride Shelter Trust is Africa's first formal haven that provides short-term accommodation to the LGBTQI+ during crisis periods. We offer accommodation, counseling, wellness and skills development programs for our residents on an ongoing basis. These resources allow our residents to upskill and grow confident in their identities. This protects and safeguards the LGBTQ+ community's mental and physical health.

Long-Term Impact

Ultimately, The Pride Shelter hopes to promote dignity, respect, and a sense of personal empowerment among members of the LGBTQI+ community.
