Participants- 50 Children
Details- Art is the medium through which a child can express his or her own desires and dreams and imagination.
At Apne Aap, we keep organising Art Classes frequently for our children on various topics. This time we asked our children to draw ‘My School’. Our children used their pencils and colours in the best way to express how the ideal school or the school of their dreams should be.
2. Craft Class
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 30 Children
Details- At Craft Class, we always teach our children to make something new. This time instead of teaching them to make a craft item, we provided children with thermocol, water colours and brush.
We were very excited to see the results where children had made their own models. They painted it beautifully. Few of our children used empty match box, dry leaves etc to make their crafts more interesting and different.
3. Health Workshop
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 35 Children and 5 Women
Details- Due to poor health conditions in the community, we organise health workshops every month. This month we discussed hygiene topics to be safe from infections during rain and change of seasons.
In this workshop, not only our Resource Person, but even mothers shared their tips and home remedies so that children do not get infected.
4. Open Mic Session- Girls and Boys are equal
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 20 Children
Details- When we talk of gender equality, it is important that we sensitize our boys from the very young age.
Keeping this in mind, we organised an open mic session where we talked to our boys about gender equality; that all boys and girls are equal; the girls should be given equal opportunities as boys to grow in life and it is everyone's right to be treated with respect irrespective of gender.
5. Storytelling Workshop
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 40 Children and 8 Women
Details- At Apne Aap, we organise storytelling workshops at every three months on issues such as child marriage, trafficking, violence etc in the community. This time we organised a session where our children created their own stories and acted upon it in the workshop under the guidance of our Resource Person. This filled them with immense confidence and creativity. We look forward to organising more such workshops in the future where our children could actively participate in the storytelling.
6. Open Mic Session
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 50 Children and 12 women
Details- As the festival season knocks in, we organised an open mic session on the importance of various festivals. In this session, our children talked on many festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Holi, Christmas. They shared what they do on each occasion with great excitement.
Our Children are eagerly waiting for Dussehra and Diwali. This is time when we make rangolis together, play games and enjoy candies and chocolates.
7. Games
Location- Community, Dharampura
Participants- 40 Children
Details- Who don’t like games? Everyone. Right? Our children too loves to play games. Spoon race, frog race, cricket, football, mirror the mirror etc are their favourite games.
This month we organised a game ‘Mirror the Mirror’. Each child was supposed to choose a partner who is similar to their height and act like a mirror.
