This month, activities at the Community Center Julio Otoni combined English language learning with painting and creative expression. Students were introduced to basic English words and phrases through an interactive lesson led by one of the volunteers. The activity focused on simple, practical vocabulary that students could use and recognize in everyday situations. To reinforce their learning, students then created paintings inspired by the new words and phrases they had learned. Using art as a learning tool helped them connect the English vocabulary with images and ideas, making the new language more engaging and easier to remember. At the end of the activity, each student presented their painting to the group and shared the English words or phrases represented in their artwork. This provided an opportunity to practice speaking in English while also encouraging creativity, confidence, and participation. The activity successfully combined language learning, creativity, and group interaction, creating a fun and engaging way for students to practice and retain their English skills.
