Remote Area Medical® (RAM) was originally created in 1985 to provide healthcare to people in developing nations that had limited or no access to doctors. Unfortunately, the need for dental, vision, and medical services here in the United States has dominated RAM’s clinic operations since our first domestic clinic in 1992. However, the organization remains committed to preventing pain and alleviating suffering in Guyana: the nation where RAM Founder Stan Brock was working when he came up with the idea to start RAM
In fact, Dr. Jordann Loehr (OB/GYN) and Jacqui Doran (RN) are in Guyana this week with a team of healthcare providers as part of RAM’s Guyana Women’s Health program. The 25-member team arrived in Guyana on October 28 and are providing pelvic exams, biopsies, and Pap tests in their ongoing attempt to prevent and treat cervical cancer. Before returning on November 8, they will visit 12 Amerindian villages to provide much-needed care. Your generous support makes this team’s efforts possible.
