Last December our team of 11 visited a rural village in Uganda to present the village with 50 pregnant goats. The recipients of the goats were selected by the village leaders. They were widows, orphans, or villagers with a handicap. They will care for the goats until the babies are born (about 6 months). About 50% of the time the goat will produce more that one baby. If cared for they can birth twice a year. This gives the recipient the opportunity to gain a small herd in a fairly short time. They cannot eat the goats, They can only sell them or trade them. This process generates significant income for these villagers. Our team will be back in Uganda in December to give more goats away.
