Alima (alias name), a 4-year-old at Aangun Early Childhood Education School, lives in a small one-room space whose father is a driver and her mother never attended school. Alima struggled with shyness, limited interaction, and grooming when she came to Aangun. Despite her parents' modest background, her enthusiasm for learning shone through. After spending 8 months at Aangun, she thrives—actively participating, enjoying lunches, and confidently engaging with peers and teachers.
Alima’s journey showcases the transformative power of quality early education. To achieve this, the curriculum that we are using in our school is developed after extensive research and review of existing resources. It is based on Portage methodology and ECE materials developed by the Agha Khan Foundation, New Jersey State Department of Education and the Single National ECE Curriculum of Pakistan. The curriculum covers personal, social and emotional development, language and literacy, basic mathematical concepts, the world around us, physical development, health, hygiene and safety, and creative arts. It includes learning outcomes, instruction methods, and assessment tools for different age groups (3 to 5 years) for each domain.
Even though this was the first year of establishing the Aangun School, we engaged LUMS School of Education of Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore to conduct an impact assessment study of the Aangun ECE School. In the conclusion it states; "The quantitative results of this impact evaluation study clearly show a progression in the skill-based results at Aangan Early Childhood Education School." The study was conducted by the students of the MPhil in Education Leadership and Management course and was presented to Dr. Faisal Bari, one of the finest Pakistani educationists.

Thank you very much and I look forward to continuing the journey of changing children’s lives.
