Four months after the La Soufriere volcano erupted, almost 300 Vincentians have received assistance thanks to your kindness. Your donations went to particularly marginalised communities - LGBTQ+ people, people living with HIV/AIDS and underserved women and girls in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
It was all about the basics, as the La Soufriere eruption threw a nation already weighed-down by COVID-19 into panic, and Hurricane Elsa soon followed. The funds were spent on water, food items like rice, emergency 1st aid and masks to filter the ash-filled air. We also provided mobile phone credit for emergency contact and transportation. Special food and other items for babies and the elderly were also provided.
Our communities face particular challenegs accesssing assistance in a criminalised and discriminatory environemtn and we thank you for being our succour as we mobilised to provide the most urgent assistance in the immediate aftermath of the disaster.
