As you may know, Liberia was recently declared Ebola free. There have been no new cases of Ebola for several weeks, now. With these developments, SEGUE has been preparing for a return to the region. As the outbreak hampered local operations and travel to and around the country, SEGUE was forced to suspend its implementation of Project “Powering Homes and Empowering 100 Women in Liberia”. With the sustained return of commerce and people moving freely about the country, we believe it’s relatively safe to reconvene our efforts. We remain vigilante and committed to the safety of our staff and will continue to monitor the public health situation on the ground. Schools have reopened and essential services have been somewhat restored.
Tactically, with the easing of international travel restrictions and monitoring activities, SEGUE resources plan to begin returning to Liberia over the next couple of months. We have contacted our vendors to begin preparing for an initial shipment of solar units to the country. It has been a long period of inactivity, fear, and apprehension but it appears the worst is behind us.
SEGUE remains thankful for your continued support.
