Once more, thank you to GlobalGiving, our donors worldwide and Dako foundation team for making this project a reality. It is about 10 years now, since over 13,000 people in our index community have been enjoying free portable water.
However, there are challenges. The facility is aging and there are damaged pipes and taps. There's increasing cost of personnel salaries. The power supply has become more epileptic. The economic situation in Nigeria which has got worse has also contributed to the challenges.
As a result of the damaged taps and pipes, 6 service points have been closed and this has put more pressure on the other service points.
The total number of hours of power supply from the National grid in a week is less than 6 and these are the only hours water is pumped for supply to the people.
Consequently, the need for a complementary source of power supply cannot be over emphasized. A 13KVA lithium battery powered solar source of power will be a relieve.
An estimate of $13,000.00 is needed to repair the damaged taps and pipes and provide adequate alternative power source as mentioned above.
We appeal to our generous donors world-wide to make donations to enable us achieve this goal.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Dako, Mamudu
Project Coordinator
