The population of our index community has increased to more than 30000 since the commencement of our project. This has essentially been made possible by the influx of internally displaced persons {IDPs} from the North Central Region of Nigeria. These people, IDPs, were displaced from their ancestral homes and farm lands by bandits.
Apart from the population explosion caused by the IDPs, they also caused expansion of the size of our index community.
Consequently, there is pressure on social services including water supply in this community! Our existing service points are no longer adequate and they are usually overcrowded when power is availabe for pumping water but many leave the service points fruastrated without water when power supply stops abruptly.
The solution to this water ptoblem in this community is extension of our water supply programme by 10 service points and the provision of a complimentary power source of a solar power system.
About $10000 {Ten thousands dollars} is needed for this extension and about $15000 {fifteen thousands dollars} will be needed to instal a 7.5KVA solar system as an alternate power source.
We thank GlobalGiving and our numerous donors for making this projecct possible and we look forward to generous donations to enable us achieve the goal of a constant power supply to our index rural dwellers.
Thank you.
