Yasmina's Commitment To Public Health

Yasmina: A Model Student & Future Midwife
Yasmina: A Model Student & Future Midwife

My name is Yasmina.  I am 18 years old and a first-year midwifery student at the National School of Public Health in Ouahigouya.  It is with much emotion and great gratitude that I write to you.

Thanks to your generous support, we, vulnerable children living in camps in Ouahigouya due to insecurity in the region, have been given the opportunity to pursue midwifery training.  Our scholarships allow us to pursue this profession and our commitment to health care services of our country.

To us, public health is not just our future.  It is our passion.  Each course, each practice and each exchange with our instructors reinforces our conviction that we are where we need to be.  Your financial support represents more than material assistance.  It is also a precious moral encouragement which nourishes our ambition to work with dedication, accuracy and humanity.

I am committed to putting all my knowledge and energy to the service of the population following my training.  My ambition is to transform public health policies and to build systems of prevention and treatment capable of responding to the needs of our people.  With work and perseverance, I plan to proceed in such a way that my actions will be well received by our national authorities as well as beyond our borders.  I want that my country and your generous support be recognized and valued wherever issues of public health are discussed.

You have planted a grain of hope which is already bearing fruit for my community.  I acknowledge this gift with integrity, passion and determination.  I wish to convey to you my infinite gratitude and ask you to continue to support vulnerable young women in Burkina Faso so that their courage and passion makes our country shine in this world.
