Thank you all for your continued support of our Building Acquisition, Renovation and Expansion Project for Fair Haven Rape Crisis Center. We are super excited to announce that we have offiially received clearance from the further site environmental study held on April 9, 2024!
With the appropriate documentation in had, our Executive Director, Kelly Vates, signed the Purchase Agreement on May 22, 2024! We have about 45 days to complete the Building Inspection and a survey of the property. We anticipate having possession of the property early July 2024.
I am happy to report that we have successfully secured $1,826,850.00 for the project! Great news, right! We are very grateful for the commitment and dedication of Congressman Frank Mrvan who assisted in securing $750,000.00 of our grant dollars. The Lake County Redevelopment Commision also selected to support our project with a grant of $1,075,000.00. We are grateful for the monumental support from our community leaders.
With that said, as with most building projects, we have a few additional expenses that were not a part of our original grant budget! The additional Environmental Study was an additional $12,000.00 and $6,500 for the Property Survey! Any dontaions we receive from you will assist us in plugging the holes where our grant dollars run short. Together, we continue to press forward.

As we begin the minor renovations within the current building, the construction of Child (Seagull Sponsor) and Youth (Pelican Sponsorship) Spaces begin! The rooms will be recarpeted, painted and furnished with toys for the children and hip furniture for the teens space. The Seagull Sopnsor will assist us in creating a kid-friendly space where survivors children can play while their parent is attending group or an individual session. Did you know that nearly 25% of our clients are 18 years of age or under! The Pelican Sponsorship will assist us in creating a space dedicated for their support groups and individual sessions.
