When we visit Bina Pusaka elementary school in Koja, North Jakarta, we cannot hide our feelings. It was heart-wrenching to discover that one of the students, Arya, has been bullied because he does not has a proper uniform that he can wear to school.
He uses his older brother’s old uniform, the color has faded and worn-out. Arya has no choice, his parents are struggling to make a living, including to pay for his tuition fee every month. He shared with us about his day-to-day activity outside the school. Most of the time, Arya helped his mother to sale crackers on the street in the evening while his father works as an unofficial helper.
This, buying a new set of uniforms will put more burden on the family, since it costs more than half the monthly tuition fee to afford.
Arya told us that he is sad every time his friends teasing him and his worn-out uniform, yet it does not loosen his willingness to study although he feels disturbing to some extent. Some of the students also lack stationery and books, which they often share with their friends.
Uniform, stationery, and books should not be a burden for Arya and other students in completing their education. You can help these students to get a new pair of uniform, a set of stationery and books that can support their education. In doing so, there will be little to distract them from obtaining the education they deserve.
Today is the International Day of Happiness, and we would like to invite you to bring happiness into the lives of poor students at these schools, both in West and North Jakarta. You can support their study by providing what they really need right now. You just need to click on our donation package and we will help you to extend your donation for them.
As Mother Teresa said, “It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”
Your donation will mean so much for the children to support their study in order to achieve a brighter future. We are also glad to announce that if you give your donation today there will be a bonus from Global Giving to these students for every donation being made. May your generosity bring more joy in your life!
Happy International Day of Happiness!
