The Polio Victims Home Renovation Project is fully funded. With your help, nine different homes were repaired, renovated or replaced.
I want you to know that I and another board member have made on-site inspections of the final two home renovations. The house repairs, homes #8 & #9, completed the three-year project. Repairs/renovations of two more homes, #10 & #11, are expected to be requested and proposals sent to VWAM by December 31, 2019.
The occupants of all nine homes were children in the late '80's and early '90's. Vietnam veterans on a VWAM mission trip visited Sister Jean Marie's Polio Orphanage #9 in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, and that is how the long-term relationship began. Stricken with polio, and many abandoned by their families, their lives have been impacted for the better because of that special connection to Vets With A Mission and your generous support!
In 2016 several of these same men and women, obviously now adults, reconnected with VWAM seeking assistance to renovate and repair their delapidated homes. Some of the homes had as many as twelve people living under one roof. In fact, one house had eighteen under the roofs of two connected homes. The project started in 2016 and renovations took place in 2017, 2018 and finally finished this year.
You may want to know that a representaive of GlobalGiving visited the project and several of the renovated homes in May, 2019, and was very pleased with it.
This is our final project report and, it goes without saying, that Vets With A Mission is sincerely grateful for what you made possible....
