A point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a type of portable ultrasound. Healthcare providers use it when they need to bring an ultrasound to you — whether it’s to your hospital bedside, a trauma bay at the Emergency department or on an ambulance. It can help providers make quick decisions about your care because they can read the results immediately, its also easy for providers to carry them throughout a hospital or to an emergency scene. They can offer tremendous benefits when healthcare providers receive required training on how to use and read them.
Recognizing how important it is in saving lives, Global Emergency Care (GEC) continues to carry out Capacity Building Trainings in Point of Care-Ultrasound to boost the management of patients in rural remote communities’ health facilities of Uganda
As demonstrated by GEC Point of Care Ultrasound trainees Joanita who wrote…
“My name is Catherine , am really grateful to having received POCUS training from Global Emergency Care, it was timely and how l wish all my midwives in Uganda can also accessible such training “After undergoing this training, I am now doing basic ultrasound scans like looking for heartbeat, seeing the placenta, the baby presentation, while before i couldn’t do it which affected my patients. It’s now good that l can do these basic checks, this has made my decisions quicker. l therefore appreciate the training so much because it has helped us save our pregnant women a lot of trouble”.
