Appreciation to our donors
All the workers in thanks all our donors in Globalgiving for their support.
In addition here is a status of the project:
The forest is now 100% protected from wild fire
With the support from our donors from GlobalGiving we were able to fire traced the entire 156,000 forest plantation at the commencement of the dry winter season. When a wildfire breakout in an adjoining forest, all our planted trees were 100% protected by the fire trace round the plantation.
Increase in per capital income for the forest workers in the Afro Forestry Sections of the plantation
The Agro forestry practice introduced is improving the standard of living of the forest workers and their families. With the supplementary income from sale of food items harvested between the planted forest trees in the local market and the wages paid to the workers for work done, most of these families are now living on an average of 5 to 7 U. S dollar daily (avergage on the area was 1). On market days, Yam is sold and the cassava harvested is processed into Garri and cassava flour. Apart from the sales of this product, some are also eating at home. This has drastically improve their standard of living.
All workers paid their salaries up to date
Your generous donation couple with our tight budgetary policy, wages of all the workers have been paid and this has enable the farmer pay their children school fees and meet other obligation at home. The Board of AIFWP and ABSWP thanks all the donors of Globalgiving for their kind gesture.
Plans for the future:
We have plans to raise a 2000 Moringa plantation(the Miracle Tree). The area has been demarcated we will be very grateful for any support in this area. When this tree grows, it will add to the nutritional status of some anemic children a common phenomenon in Africa, economic value of the rural people and also to the trees for Peace project. The Area Manager for Moringa Mr. Kenneth Iyen and the workers under his schedule will be grateful for any support in this area. We have been assured of a free donation of 2000 seed of Moringa which we hope to start the nursery when fund are available.
We kindly appeal to support in planting of 2000 moringa in 2015.
Warm regards.
