100,000 Trees for Azuero, Planting our Future

The 2026 reforestation season is coming full speed ahead, and we expect it to be the most important and successful season Pro Eco Azuero has ever had!

For the first time, Pro Eco Azuero, in partnership with Panama's Ministry of Environment, will be intervening 100 hectares in the province of Herrera using diverse restoration approaches: silvopastoral systems, agroforestry systems, assisted natural regeneration, native species reforestation, and forest conservation with biodiversity monitoring. We are incredibly excited about this project because it will allow us to study different restoration methods, analyze their success, and determine which approaches work best for implementation in the coming years.

In Los Santos, we will plant more than 35,000 trees within our biological corridor—all with the help of our community nurseries led by rural women. This year, we built three new nurseries that are currently producing approximately 30,000 seedlings. These women have been trained in regenerative agriculture and have received production contracts, providing them with stable income and professional growth.

Behind every tree, there's a story!!! We have visited and identified the farms to be reforested, and every beneficiary has a beautiful story to tell. They are people seeking to build resilience on their farms, protect their water sources, and increase their productivity. This year, we will plant approximately 100,000 trees, but more importantly, we will benefit over 200 people through our reforestation efforts. We are weaving social fabric, not just planting trees.

We are also thrilled to share that more than 600 volunteers have already confirmed their participation this season, and we expect even more to join us!
