help farmers to produce more moringa products

By Dr.Vincent pau. B. | Director

Dear Donor,
Greetings from Team CHHASE India!
Your generous support enables us to raise vital awareness among farmers, children, and the general public about the sustainable, organic cultivation of Moringa—rightly known as "The Miracle Tree." Thanks to your partnership, local communities are mastering organic farming techniques that boost both their health and their livelihoods.
Moringa earned its reputation as a "magic tree" because every single part of it provides tangible benefits to humans and animals alike. Through your contributions, we help small-scale farmers cultivate this nutrient-rich superfood, process it into high-value products like leaf powder and oil, and successfully market them. While the powder provides crucial nutritional security, the oil is gaining steady popularity in local markets for its exceptional skincare properties.
Beyond health and economic security, your impact extends to the environment. CHHASE cultivates Moringa alongside other native species in our mega tree nursery to promote biodiversity. Once the monsoon arrives, we distribute these seedlings to farmers for their individual plots. Falling Moringa leaves enrich the soil, and the growing trees help create a cooler microclimate, which is vital for restoring dryland ecosystems. Our dedicated staff provides comprehensive training and ongoing field visits to ensure high survival and growth rates.
Looking ahead, here is an update on our upcoming initiatives:
Training and Ongoing Support
Our team is currently preparing farmers for the upcoming planting season by training them in soil preparation and tree management. We have also introduced modules on proper harvesting, sorting, cleaning, and shade-drying techniques to ensure premium product quality. Over the next quarter, we aim to train 1,200 farmers, 1,500 members of the general public, and students across three local schools.
Nursery Expansion
Our nursery team is actively managing propagation, potting, watering, weeding, and organic pest control. We are on track to raise over 25,000 Moringa seedlings within the next six months.
Overcoming Challenges & Quarter Strategy
While we face seasonal challenges—such as slow drying times during cold spells and minor caterpillar interventions on tender leaves—our farmers are adapting well. The market for Moringa oil is also emerging steadily. Moving forward into the next quarter, our core focus remains on:
• Propagating additional high-quality seedlings.
• Deepening tree management training for rural farmers.
• Streamlining the sourcing, processing, and distribution of powder and oil.
Your support truly brings sustainable growth to rural lives. Every dollar you contribute empowers a farmer to cultivate more trees and develop value-added products to secure a steady income. For instance, a gift of $100 allows a farmer to plant and sustain 100 Moringa trees.
While we are making incredible strides, building widespread community adoption and establishing robust organic markets takes time. We extend our deepest gratitude to our monthly recurring donors; your steady commitment is the backbone of our progress.
We would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions on our initiatives.
Warmest regards,
Team CHHASE India
