Brazil: Maria Vitoria's Dream of Becoming a Nurse

By Beatrice Parmigiani | Project Coordinator

In many parts of Brazil, countless girls still grow up facing economic hardship, limited opportunities, and the belief that some dreams are simply out of reach. For many families, staying in school is a daily challenge, and dropping out remains a real risk, especially for young women.

To address these barriers, Mission Bambini supports the Pink Scholarship project, implemented in partnership with Casa dos Sonhos Association. The programme provides financial support that enables girls to continue their education while also fostering personal growth, self-confidence, awareness of their rights, and the belief that they can shape their own future.

Maria Vitória's Story

Among the young women building a brighter future through the programme is Maria Vitória.

For Maria Vitória, the Pink Scholarship has meant much more than financial assistance. It has shown her that someone believes in her potential and encourages her to pursue her ambitions.

"What I appreciate most about the Pink Scholarship is how it encourages girls to be strong, determined, and aware of their rights," she says. "The programme supports not only our education but also our personal growth."

Through the training opportunities and educational activities offered by the project, Maria Vitória has gained confidence in herself and learned to look ahead with optimism. Like many young women, she has faced uncertainty and moments when she felt she lacked support. The programme reminded her that she was not alone.

"Today I understand that education is not simply an obligation," she explains. "It is a way to grow as a person and transform my reality."

Her dream is to continue studying and build a strong professional career in nursing—the profession she hopes to pursue. For Maria Vitória, education is the path to independence, opportunity, and the freedom to make her own choices.

"Through education, a woman can have a stronger voice, greater confidence in her decisions, and more opportunities to make her dreams come true."

Investing in Girls' Dreams

Maria Vitória's story reminds us that a scholarship is far more than financial support. It gives girls the opportunity to discover their potential, develop their talents, and choose their own future.

Every girl who stays in school creates change that extends far beyond herself. She strengthens her family, inspires her community, and helps build a more equal society where a girl's future is defined not by her circumstances, but by her aspirations.
