On Saturday 20th April 2013, the Cameroon Widows Pig Project (CWPP) concluded the project’s fifth phase of stocking pens with the piglets, providing provision of feed and treatment of the pigs. The project is about 80% realized, in Tole and Owe, given the conclusion with sensitization, selection, training, pen construction and stocking. In the days ahead we shall concentrate efforts on disease prevention/ treatment, castration and feeding of the pigs. On provision of piglets and feed, all beneficiaries of the projects where visibly elated upon the reception of their piglets with a consignment of feed. The feed will provide feeding for the piglets up to twenty-five days with subsequent feed supply following.
Chanting praises to God and Nkong Hill Top Association for Development, the women promised total collaboration for the success of the project through the organization’s staff: Mr. Aldous Lekeanyi, Miss Erica Johnson and the indefatigable Mr. Fidelex Efuetlancha.
In Tole the handing of piglets and feed was witnessed by neighbors and the former Regional Delegate of Youth Affaires for the Southwest Region. The joy expressed by the women made the Delegate interested to learn more about the CWPP. In response, Mr. Aldous explained the project mission’s to tackle poverty from the roots by providing alternative sources of income to women headed homes. The selection of the project’s widows was in response to the harsh conditions undergone by this group of people in the society due to the lost of their husbands.
At this level of project implementation, the final stage includes the nurturing of piglets to ensure market sizes, restocking the pens and future participation of the widows in pig production as an alternative source of income. Most importantly, the final stage depends heavily on the future contributions of the viewers of Globalgiving. Your future donations are truly essential and appreciated. Please help us provide funding to ensure a prosperous future for the Widows in Tole, Owe and Ikita, Cameroon.
Thank you and Blessings unto you
