Puerto Rico has been struggling to recover ever since Hurricane Maria devastated the island in late 2017. However, despite the challenges of rebuilding a stable infrastructure for power and getting the proper resources, the love for baseball and softball still perseveres and remains one of the only constants. PIFBS returned for the third year in 2019 to do another round of projects, providing equipment to four leagues in the more rural parts of the island, which has received far less support than programs closer to the San Juan. PIFBS provided more than $12,000 in equipment to help hundreds of kids. PIFBS will continue to support communities devastated by natural disaster. As we look towards 2020-2021, we will be shifting Disaster Relief dollars to help communities and leagues address the new CDC guidelines to return to safe play as a result of COVID.
