Thank you for making this project possible!

Students and teachers spent 5 very full days at the MY STORY photo workshop in northern Vietnam.  Each student was paired with a teacher, given a point-and-shoot digitial camera,  and given shooting assignments that taught them about light, focus, point of view, and most importantly, how to create a photo essay without words.  Assignments included: making a portrait of your partner from three different viewpoints, shooting something moving, using flash and natural light on the same subject, and composing a photograph where the subject is anywhere BUT the middle of the frame.  On the last day of the workshop, students presented a group photo essay they shot, with one image from each participant.  Once again, we were overwhelmed by the enormous amount of cooperation and genereosity these students exhibited.  Their photo essay documented the life of a deaf student at the school.

While students are on their summer break, teachers have returned to their rural communities to share their new skills with other community members so that they too may have a voice that can be seen.

The MY STORY photo project looks forward to posting photos from workshop participants on our website (msppa.org) and facebook page (my story photo project).
