Building capacity for organ donation in Peru
Project: Peru - Save 1 million lives (#59325)
By: DTI Foundation
Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you for supporting our project in Peru. Its purpose is to strengthen healthcare professionals’ skills in organ donation and transplantation, helping build local capacity to improve access to transplantation over time.
In our June report, we described the project’s focus on specialized education and sharing international best practices adapted to the Peruvian healthcare context. This approach addresses key aspects of the donation pathway: identifying potential donors, managing donors, communicating sensitively with families, and coordinating the donation process.
For this update, we do not have verified new activity or outcome figures to share. We therefore do not report additional professionals trained, training sessions completed, or transplants resulting from this project. The intended long-term benefit remains that trained professionals can share their knowledge with colleagues and contribute to stronger practices in their hospitals. This is an expected contribution, rather than a measured result for the current reporting period.
We are grateful for your trust in DTI Foundation and in the importance of education for organ donation and transplantation. Thank you for supporting the ambition of creating more opportunities for patients in Peru to receive a transplant.
With gratitude,
DTI Foundation
