Project Report: Strengthening Organ Donation and Transplantation in Peru
Building local capacity to save more lives through donation and transplantation
Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you for your continued support of our work to strengthen organ donation and transplantation systems. Your contribution helps us continue promoting access to life-saving transplantation and supporting healthcare professionals who are working to improve donation practices in their countries.
In Peru, many patients continue to face significant challenges related to organ failure and limited access to transplantation. Developing strong donation and transplantation systems requires trained professionals, clear clinical pathways, public and institutional awareness, and long-term collaboration between national and international partners.
During this reporting period, DTI Foundation has continued supporting the development of professional knowledge and technical capacity in the field of organ donation and transplantation. Our work focuses on sharing international best practices, promoting specialized training, and encouraging the implementation of effective models that can be adapted to the local healthcare context.
The objective of this project is to contribute to the improvement of donation and transplantation activity in Peru by strengthening the skills of healthcare professionals involved in the donation process. Training and knowledge transfer are essential to help professionals identify potential donors, improve donor management, communicate effectively with families, and coordinate the different steps of the donation and transplantation pathway.
Although progress in this field requires time and sustained commitment, every training activity and every opportunity for collaboration represents an important step forward. By investing in healthcare professionals, we are also investing in the future of patients who may one day depend on an organ transplant to survive.
The expected impact of this project goes beyond individual training. Professionals who receive specialized education can become local references, share their knowledge with colleagues, and contribute to the gradual strengthening of hospital and national practices. This multiplier effect is central to DTI Foundation’s mission: saving lives through education, cooperation, and sustainable capacity building.
We are deeply grateful to all donors and partners who make this work possible. Your support allows us to continue accompanying countries like Peru in their efforts to improve donation and transplantation systems and offer new hope to patients and families.
Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping us build a future where more patients can access the life-saving opportunity of transplantation.
With gratitude,
DTI Foundation
