The Dounia Project team has been working tirelessly to implement the interactive education project in a high school in an industrial zone outside of Rabat, Morocco. Along with the school principal and a representative of the Moroccan ministry of education, we are currently reviewing some important elements in the curriculum to align the project activities with the school’s and the Moroccan educational system’s objectives.
Moreover, a high school in Antananarivo, Madagascar has reached out to us to join the virtual exchange with schools in Morocco and in the United States. Currently, we are discussing terms of an eventual partnership with Madagascar and we are developing a new curriculum focusing on topics that would interest all parties.
In the meantime, The Dounia Project president, Zayn Abaakil was invited to speak in two conferences this month.
The first conference took place on international NGO day in collaboration with the Global Education Motivators and Streamable Learning (a global network of homeschooled students) to discuss how collaborative and interactive learning could benefit youth around the world to acquire the necessary skills to succeed in their professional development. At the end, youth that attended the conference showed interest in participating to our international youth virtual exchange sessions. We are currently discussing with GEM and Streamable Learning for a potential partnership with Dounia Project.
The second conference was in the ENSA (the school of applied sciences) at the University of Kénitra Ibn Tofail on March 8th to discuss women’s rights education. We stressed the fact that in order to build a more equitable society it is important to have conversations and structured activities around the topics of gender equality and equal opportunity and access with youth.
