Project Report | Dec 9, 2020
Distribution of Free Sanitary Pads

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear well-wishers,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch.

In this report, Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) wants to share about the update of our health leaders’ work who have continuously working for the better health and hygiene of the rural community and especially the women and girls. The health leaders has not stopped working in this pandemic situation. Making of sanitary pad and mask and its distribution has continuously in progress. Some of the communities’ girls and women have received the masks and sanitary pads at no cost.

GVT, is working in the field of health since long and has observed many ups and downs. But this pandemic situation is really differ from all the other challenges. Especially our girls and women who have started using the sanitary pads were stopped buying it. Though it is at very minimal price the rural women are not able to spend their money for it. Thus sanitary pads are very important for them, for their health concern, but for the financial reason they are not using it.

Looking at the situation, GVT decided to distribute the sanitary pads with no cost to some of the communities, who are really marginalized and are not able to afford it. With the free distribution of sanitary pads GVT has also spread the awareness messages on safe menstrual hygiene practices. Both this activities were done with the help of our health leaders. Who have supported in surveying and distributing it with a strong message on hygiene practices.

GVT has able to cover 6 villages and some of the streets in the city who are affected due to pandemic situation. At the same time GVT is planning to organize the same program in other 15 villages. For awareness and distribution of free sanitary pads for safe hygiene practices for the girls and women.

As GVT is continuously supported by our well-wishers, this time also your generous support will reach to the girls and women for sure. Let us come together for the noble cause, for the better health of the women and girls in the rural India.
