This summer, Fundacion Cecilia Rivadeneira will bring joy, healing, and creative therapy to children with cancer and their siblings in Ecuador through its expanded Performing Arts and Art Therapy Program. Building on last year's success, which reached 60 children, the program will offer theater, dance, music, and creative workshops that support emotional wellbeing, confidence, and resilience during cancer treatment. We are seeking funding to ensure these children can continue this program.
Fundacion Cecilia Rivadeneira supports children with cancer in Ecuador, where access to emotional and psychosocial care is limited and childhood cancer mortality remains alarmingly high. While art-based therapy is proven to reduce stress and build resilience, sustaining these programs is a constant challenge. The foundation depends on donor support to provide transportation, materials, trained facilitators, and safe spaces. Without funding, many children lose one of the few supports available.
Fundacion Cecilia Rivadeneira will implement its Summer Performing Arts Program offering theater, dance, music, and movement workshops that help children cope with cancer through creativity and play. Led by trained facilitators and supported by volunteers, the program creates safe spaces where children can heal emotionally while having fun. Last year,100% felt happier, 96.2% made friends, and 94.2% gained confidence. Funds support materials, transportation, meals and facilitators for 70 children
By supporting this program, donors help ensure that children with cancer are seen beyond their diagnosis and supported as whole individuals. Last year, 98.1% of participants expressed a desire to return, demonstrating the program's lasting emotional and social impact. The program builds confidence, resilience, communication skills, and a sense of community-benefits that extend beyond medical treatment and help children face the future with hope and dignity.
