Médecins du Monde (MdM) network operates four primary healthcare centers and supports partner clinics, providing essential medical services, including primary healthcare, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition support, vaccinations, emergency response, and mental health services. MdM provides lifesaving humanitarian assistance to over 1,000 beneficiaries daily.
Between January and February 2024, Dünya Doktorlar/MdM Türkiye provided twelve pallets of essential medicines in collaboration with the Palestine Red Crescent Society and Turkish Red Crescent. Unfortunately, further deliveries were halted due to the closure of the Rafah crossing in May 2024.
Following the ceasefire that came into effect on 19 January, some restrictions eased, and crossings reopened, allowing an increase in aid deliveries— with at least 600 trucks ofaid being allowed in the first week of the ceasefire asa part of the deal. However, access remains inconsistent due to long queues at the crossings, and essential supplies are still delayed or denied by Israeli government arbitrarily, destabilizing the humanitarian efforts.
Although the blockade has partly eased, severe shortages of medications, medical supplies, clean water, and food persist, creating life-threatening conditions. Aid obstruction has created an environment where organized armed groups exploit shortages, including looting trucks carrying essential aid, such as medical shipments.
MdM Türkiye is currently coordinating with other MdM network members to provide essential medicines delivery into Gaza. MdM Türkiye is hoping to increase the donations collected through GlobalGiving so that these efforts can be realized.
Urgent action is needed to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access, protect health infrastructure, and safeguard the lives of Palestinian community in Gaza and Occupied West Bank. Thank you for your contributions!
