This program seeks to fill the gap in education for adolescents and young people in Bamako, Mali. The project focuses primarily on information regarding HIV, as well as the personal, sexual health of those attending the education sessions.
GAIA is able to achieve this goal by training teen peer educators to lead honest and open conversations regarding HIV prevention, STI awareness, and family planning. Youth leaders are able to facilitate these critical discussions at local partner clinics in Bamako, where they have the opportunity to organize weekly.
Equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed decisions about their personal and sexual health is crucial to helping them make informed, responsible decisions. When young people have knowledge, they make healthier choices.
With your support, we can train more teen leaders to reach hundreds of young people with this life-saving knowledge. Our education sessions also provide free condoms and HIV testing. In 2025, we hosted 640 young boys and girls at these sessions.
We thank you for your continued support for GAIA Vaccine Foundation’s Teen Peer Education Program!
