This year has brought many exciting developments in our home hospice and palliative care programs in Nepal. In our last report, we shared that Dr. Ajay Mishra had completed his training through the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). Dr. Mishra has started providing hospice and palliative care services to the terminally ill patients in Janakpur, Nepal. Thank you for your donation and support, eight patients and their families have already benefited from this service in Janakpur, Nepal.
Because hospice and palliative care is a fairly new concept for many patients as well as healthcare providers in Nepal, training and education are important aspects of building these programs. To educate and to build awareness about hospice and palliative care services, we organized a hospice and palliative care summit in Janakpur, Nepal last month. This summit was attended by over 50 local physicians who stated that this summit helped them understand what hospice and palliative care services are, and that their patients will benefit from these services.
The Binaytara Foundation’s hospice and palliative care services are provided free of cost to the terminally ill patients in Nepal. These services can be used to improve the quality of life of many patients with a number of terminal illnesses besides cancer. With your continued support and the support of many of our volunteers and partners on the ground, we hope to be able to bring hospice and palliative care services to everyone who needs these services. Thank you for making “peace, comfort, and dignity at the end of life” your cause.
