Protectores de Cuencas, Inc., is using donated funds to cover costs related to the production of native trees, maintenance of reforested areas, and additional reforesting efforts inside the Guánica State Forest in Puerto Rico. This natural reserve is frequently subjected to wildland fires, greatly benefiting from this reforestation project.
This report covers the period from January to April 2024. During this period, PDC's team focused on the maintenance work, including removing invasive species and replacing dead trees. In addition, reforestation along the PR-333 is inside Guánica State Forest, an area with higher fire risk. The attached images show efforts by the PDC team, such as reforesting and replacing native trees. Work during the next few months will be focused on irrigation and maintenance efforts of planted trees and the continuance of reforesting native trees along de PR-333.
