Helping community members stay healthy

Imagine having to take your medicine and having the water that you swallowed to carry the medicine into you make you ill. How awful would that be? Agua Pura Para el Pueblo has been embarking on a 5 year project to provide water filters and clean water to the over 350 mini pharmacies in rural Honduras so patients don’t become ill from the water they use to make them better. We are working with our partner Project Global Village (PAG) in Honduras to provide clean water to these pharmacies.

The volunteers at each pharmacy provide a small area inside their home for a cabinet and undergo training from a medical specialist. They are trained to provide over the counter medicines to their neighbors while consulting their training materials. Some of the frequent ailments that they see are respiratory illness’ in children and skin ailments. By having a mini pharmacy in their village, the patients don’t need to spend most of the day traveling to a larger city and pay for taxis to obtain the medicines that they need. Each mini pharmacy is held accountable by a local oversight team to make sure guidelines are followed and funds are used appropriately.

Thanks to you, we have been able to assist PAG by providing clean water for the rural Hondurans. We are in our second year of this project and we are grateful that you are helping us help people live healthier lives.

Please continue to support our work in Honduras and Latin America as we help with improving health in peopls lives.
