The Big Project in Honduras has begun!
Juanita and her classmates are now receiving clean drinking water thanks to Aqua Pura Para El Pueblo and Project Global Village. She and hundreds of students and families now know the results of their drinking water and have ways to get clean drinking water. With knowledge of how contamination occurs and ways to combat diseased water they have hope for the future.
We are grateful to you, our donors and friends, who have contributed to this work. It is because of you Juanita is able to get better water access. Since we ourselves volunteer our time, your contributions went to help these families in Honduras.
What made this trip incredibly successful was the training of two young men to continue our efforts with the ongoing work when they return to their neighborhoods of Mesquita, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
While many people around the world have poor quality drinking water, we work with one family at a time, in one community at a time, to change this reality. Agua Pura worked with an in-country NGO called Project Global Village to analyze water and visit with communities in the Santa Barbara department of Honduras and in Ocotepeque department. We were able to analyze water samples for bacteria and then teach about sanitation techniques and ways to treat water to prevent illness from the water. We also distributed clay water filters to families and provided Sawyer type water filters for the schools.
After not being to Belen Gualcho for 6 years, we were able to revisit the area to see how the things we had taught about sanitation and drinking water continued. We were amazed at the continued use of clay water filters at one of the house hold pharmacies that help to provide clean drinking water to patients who need to come and take medication by mouth
We were able to provide 25 filters to the local schools and another 20 clay filters to families to provide safe water to the homes. All because of your support. Thank you for what you continue to do to provide clean water to children in Honduras.
