Report Summury
During this reporting period, as April is the month of World Parkinson Day celebration at the national level in Ethiopia, just like the global community, we have proposed a lot of activities to be accomplished during the day by mobilising various communities and partners to contribute their share to ensuring the quality of life of Parkinson patients and their carers via creating access to care and support and comprehensive service provision.
As the Parkinson Patient Support Organisation Ethiopia (PPSO-E) is the only kind of organisation of its type that has been working on Parkinson intervention in the country, various commitments have been made in celebration of the World Parkinson Day Celebration this year. so that, based on the resources mobilised both in and out of the country from potential partners and goodhearted individuals, the following activities were achieved:
1. More than 60 PD patients were getting medication support (drug provisions were made).
2. Various stakeholders and governmental decision-makers were meaningfully engaged and presented their level of commitment to working towards addressing Parkinson's patients' needs and minimising the burden of the disease at the national level.
3. All media professionals, including FM radio, TV, broadcast media, electronic media, and printing media, were invited and gathered together to create a wider public awareness of Parkinson's disease and the actual socioeconomical and psychological impact of the disease.
