Report Summary During this deportation period, Parkinson patients' support organizations in Ethiopia made various commitments, especially related to a wider awareness-raising campaign through local media like the FM 98.1 radio health program hosted by a consortium of Christian relief and development associations and mobilizing a very well-known and famous Ethiopian artist to bring the issues of Parkinson disease and its burden to the national level via a popular YouTube channel. Similarly, through creating a strong partnership with a local non-governmental organization called LiveAddis, about five Parkinson patients' caregivers were getting 10 days of economic empowerment training (both vocational and business skills) and getting five to seven thousand Ethiopian birr for start-up. They had already begun their businesses to make sure they were working towards strengthening their financial security.
As a result,
- millions - of the community were reached through the radio program, and about 130 people viewed the YouTube program.
- PD caregivers were getting economic empowerment training and starting to operate their businesses with the seed money provided.
- Various stakeholders, goodhearted individuals both domestically and abroad, were coming in person and providing support both in kind and in cash.
