Dear donors, greeting from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch (GVT).
“The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change.”
- Carl Rogers
As you are aware that we place Para Teachers in Government school, where there is lack of teachers and the number of the children is more. In Bharuch district, especially in the rural blocks there are so many vacancies of teachers but the teachers do not want to go into interior villages as there is lack of basic facilities and the issue of the teachers remain same.
Till date we have place many teachers with low pay, the teachers are from the same community only, so that he/she can understand the issue of the local context and teach children properly. He/she also helps in school administration work, to help other teachers, so that the work can be spread and the load of the work get less.
In one of the village of Jhagadia block we have placed Bharatbhai (name changed) as a para teacher. During the first month we observed that he was very shy and do not able to mix with the teachers as well as with the children. Our Field Mentor regularly motivated him and tried to find out the best qualities hidden within him so that the children can get best out of him. Few days later he started mingling with all the other teachers and children.
Once we interviewed him and asked about his own experience for the teaching and learning experience as a Para Teacher in the school, he shared that when he joined he was having the inferiority complex within him and low self-confidence, as there are government teachers who are earning more than him, dressed well but later he think that he is there to teach to the kids, the kids who will be the future of my village, for the overall development of the village the kids have to get educated as he could not.
There are number of schools which are having less teachers for the numbers of reasons, but after all the kids have to suffer.
