Shaping the Child's Future!

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear donors,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust (GVT).

I would like to share the project update with one example of a village. It is very interior village in the block of Jhagadia, Bharuch district, Gujarat. The village has very less transport facilities, most of the people belong to tribal community.

There is one government primary school up to 8th standard, in that the total vacancy of the teachers are 4, but only two teachers have been appointed. (The teachers do not wish to join such interior villages) Apart from these two teachers, one female teacher is on maternity leave (since last four months). So one teacher has to teach all the students of the school, as well the administration work of the school.

Because of this many students are becoming irregular, and those who come to school the teaching dose not happen. Parents are also not aware on the importance of education and do not take any action on this.

The teacher raise this issue to their line managers, and they came to GVT. GVT tried to find out eligible person who can teach the students. Harshad (name changed), has done his PTC (Primary Teacher Course), and he was finding difficult to get government job nearby his village. He has to move from his village, but as the condition of his family he was not able to leave his village and family.

GVT contacted him, and asked to teach for his village school. He was ready for this, as teaching is one of the most interesting area. He has joined teaching from last month. GVT has observed that he teaches very well to the students, also help the other government teacher in his work so that most of the time they can allocate for teaching.

GVT is trying fill out the gap, by putting para teachers in the school. The child’s future is in the hand of the teachers but there are very less teachers appointed, and those who appoints in the interior villages dose not join the school.

Let us make the change in the society.
